I love getting to photograph the actual proposal, but I also love the few minutes afterward when everything sinks in and we can turn it into a mini engagement session too.

He got down on one knee.
She said yes.
And after the surprise wore off just a little, we spent some time wandering the beach, celebrating and taking their first photographs as an engaged couple.
Proposal sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph because there is no recreating that first reaction. My job is to help plan where I need to be, stay out of sight when I need to, capture the moment as it really happens — and then make sure you come away with beautiful photographs of everything afterward too.

Well… this engagement session escalated quickly. 😂🌊 Warning.. you may get wet, possibly soaked!
We started with a playful walk along the beach. Then the champagne came out and well… the rest is history.
This is exactly what I love about engagement sessions: a little direction, plenty of movement, and lots of room for you to simply have fun together. No stiff poses or pressure to perform—just photographs that genuinely feel like you.

This engagement session at Rockledge Gardens was basically everything I love about photographing couples! Beautiful light and super fun human beings!

Engagement photos don’t have to mean an hour of standing around wondering, “What do I do with my hands?” 😂 I’ll give you direction when you need it, but mostly I want you moving, talking, laughing and interacting with each other. That’s when the good stuff happens.

And yes—all couples are celebrated here. Always. 🏳️‍🌈

If you’re looking for a relaxed engagement session somewhere other than the beach, Rockledge Gardens is such a fun little Florida gem.

There’s something extra special about photographin

There’s something extra special about photographing a wedding in a place that feels like home. 💛. Well….really it is my home. This beautiful summer wedding brought me back to my hometown of Pawling, New York, and I loved every minute of it.

The soft yellow bridesmaid dresses, those incredible colorful bouquets, the sweetest wedding party, a gorgeous bride and groom, and so much laughter throughout the day — it was one of those weddings that just felt happy and joyful in every single moment.

Sorry to make this more about me… but getting to photograph this wedding surrounded by familiar faces and places made it even more meaningful for me.

Getting to photograph weddings is already such a privilege, but days like this remind me that it’s also about the relationships I’ve made along the way. I think it’s safe to say that the extended Busby, Rickert, Daniels families have kept me connected to a place that is so important to me.

Sending Annamarie and Will a HUGE congratulations! Wishing you a lifetime of laughter and adventure!
